RASA DAIKO - Dance and Drums is an exciting fusion of dance and drum choreographies, is inspired from the powerful Taiko drumming style from Asia, classical percussive dance styles from India and the East, and Modern dance from the West. The Berlin based female dancers/drummers have been working together for several years in different projects. In RASA DAIKO they combine all their diverse artistic abilities.
Looking for rhythmic structures and patterns, that are viable both dancing and drumming, Rasa developed own compositions and choreographies with mathematical sharpness, uncommon metres and impelling beats. The graceful dance movements are rhythmical perfectly aligned to the drum sequences, as if you would be able to truly „see“ the compositions.

The Taiko drumming style from Asia, using wooden drums of different sizes and forms, is known for his impelling beats and choreographed rhythmical movements. Those moves emphasize and support particular rhythmical accents and were brought to perfection from famous Taiko ensembles from Japan in the last 50 years.
The classical dance styles from North and South of India, Kathak and Bharatanatyam, trace back to the ancient temples and developed later to aristocratical court dances. (similar to ballet in the West). Today they are presented as modern and sophisticated stage performances and are appreciated because of their fascinating rhythms, elegant movements, demanding foot percussion, rich expressions and spiritual depth an profundity .
